DZS Software’s web-based clinical trial management software (CTMS) ClinPlus was selected by the medical device maker PhotoThera. The company plans to use ClinPlus in a clinical trial on a noninvasive transcranial laser energy therapy. “[W]e found the intuitive design of the system to be easy to navigate, which we felt eventually would translate into less training time and less potential for errors and frustration among the system users. We were also impressed with the simple elegance of the system,” said Cindy Croissant, PhotoThera’s director of clinical operations.

NextDocs forged a strategic partnership with speakTech, a system integrator specializing in Microsoft SharePoint. The two say they will offer a unified approach to delivering regulatory compliant document and quality management solutions for regulated organizations. Jean-Claude Monney, speakTech's chief solution strategy officer, said of NextDocs: “Their web-based solution extends the capabilities of SharePoint to meet clients' business and technical requirements, as well as assisting them with adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements set forth by the FDA.” Here's the release.

Montreal-based contract research organization (CRO) Lab Research named Daniel Ménard as president for Canadian operations. There is a new report on the pharmaceutical and clinical trial market in India. The report was published by a major accounting firm and an Indian business association. Partly because of the country's IT savvy, the clinical trial services market is expected to grow at a rate of 21 percent annually.
