Clinical data management is not really an endangered species. But it is threatened. That’s because some companies believe that massive, traditional systems to manage clinical trial data could be made obsolete by electronic data capture (EDC) tools that do some of the same tasks.

An Asian contract research organization (CRO) apparently feels otherwise. GleneaglesCRC picked Phase Forward’s Clintrial software for clinical data management. But the CRO will also be using InForm, Phase Forward’s EDC solution. Clearly the vendor’s ability to support those speaking Chinese and Korean was attractive.

GleneaglesCRC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Parkway Hospital Singapore Pte Ltd, one of Asia’s premier, fully integrated private healthcare providers with the largest network of private hospitals and healthcare services in the region. Gleneagles provides clinical trial services to global and regional pharmaceutical, biotechnology companies and research institutes in Southeast Asian countries, offering experience with the local culture and requirements, as well as access to a clinical research network of more than 154 hospital sites located throughout the region.

“We believe that Phase Forward’s products set the industry benchmark for clinical trial software,” said Lance Eminger, senior business development manager in Singapore for GleneaglesCRC. “Data generated by GleneaglesCRC can now be easily integrated with data from the top pharmaceutical companies using the same Phase Forward software. In addition, by establishing a single, consolidated audit trail, Clintrial can help customers ensure that their trial management and submission processes are compliant with regulations for new drug applications (NDA).”

“We are pleased to be adopting Clintrial for conducting data management and providing it as a quality service to our clients,” said Dr. Deng Ya Zhong, senior manager of biometrics in Singapore for GleneaglesCRC. “Installing the data server in Singapore will also allow remote access from our other data management units in China and the Philippines. This will reinforce our commitment to data security and reliability.”
