Lilly extended a contract with electronic data capture powerhouse Phase Forward. The companies say Lilly has used Phase Forward’s EDC software in over 200 trials. In what appears to be a new development, the Indiana company will be “mandating” the use of Phase Forward’s EDC solution with global service partners. “We look forward to continuing to leverage Phase Forward as our clinical data management solution of choice,” said Jeffrey Kasher, Lilly’s VP and COO of global clinical development.

INC Research, a contract research organization (CRO), announced Nick Kenny as the senior VP of oncology. Kenny began his career at INC Research in 2006 as senior project director of oncology. He was promoted to executive director in 2007. Earlier this year, he was named VP of oncology. “Nick was the obvious choice to step into this senior management role in oncology,” said John Potthoff, COO of INC Research. “Not only does he have impeccable therapeutic expertise, but he has been instrumental in fine tuning the methodologies that we use today in our ‘trusted process’ for delivering high quality clinical results that meet or exceed customer expectations. Stason Pharmaceuticals will get clinical and regulatory support from Abingdon Life Sciences. The company will host a conference call at 4:30 p.m. eastern standard time that day. Robert Brill, chairman of the board, Chuck Piccirillo, interim CEO, and Jay Trepanier, interim CFO, will discuss the company’s growth strategy and plans to enhance shareholder value. eResearchTechnology announced results for the second quarter and six-month period ended June 30, 2008. “We are very pleased with the second quarter results where we saw record quarterly revenue, ECG transactions, backlog and very strong bookings for eRT,” commented Michael McKelvey, president and CEO of eRT. “Our services revenue grew by 55.9 percent, driven by outstanding growth in our core cardiac safety business. Bookings were strong, especially for Thorough QT studies. In comparison to the first quarter of 2008, margins increased in all three revenue categories—services, site support, and licenses. Net income was $6.7 million, an increase of 60.9 percent from $4.1 million for the second quarter of 2007. The second quarter results again demonstrated the leverage in our business model as evidenced by expanding gross margins and net income growth.”
