Damien Tremolet, director of operations, will lead the new office, centrally located in the business center of the Gare de Lyon station. The Swedish pharmaceutical company Biovitrum completed the review of its research and development organization as announced in November, 2007. Now Biovitrum will focus on specialist care pharmaceuticals, as well as taking its projects all the way to market. Consequently, Biovitrum is in the process of out-licensing a majority of the company’s primary care research. “The size, flexibility and competence of our new R&D organization make us well equipped to effectively deliver current and future specialist care products all the way to the market. ADAM, a provider of health information, signed a licensing agreement with the Cleveland Clinic Health System. The Cleveland Clinic will integrate ADAM’s library of health articles, guides, health risk assessment tools, and imagery into its existing online health information portal at eight member hospitals. Frost & Sullivan is planning a series of “voice of the customer” reports on outsourcing trends, perceptions, selection criteria and other important dynamics to contract research organizations (CROs). The firm is looking for customers/supporters. Six core therapeutic areas will be the targeted: oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic, central nervous system, infectious disease, allergy & respiratory. The Frost & Sullivan studies will include detailed interviews with more than 150 executives within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry who are involved in outsourcing to CROs. “Understanding how outsourcers make decisions and evaluate providers is vital to service companies,” notes Frost & Sullivan industry manager Daniel Ruppar. “Analyzing feedback on these dynamics provides CROs a sound basis for formulating an effective strategy to compete in the marketplace.” The studies will survey CRO customers to better understand their preferences, in addition to current and future outsourcing patterns.
